Neodani Fault
Neodani Fault was the epicenter of a magnitude 8.0 earthquake that occurred at 6:38 a.m. on October 28th, 1891 in Neo village. This fault is the oldest identifiable earthquake fault line in Japan, and pictures of the fault were used in many seismology textbooks both in Japan and abroad, following the earthquake. For this reason, it is known worldwide and visited by many researchers of seismology. The fault's cliffs in the Mizudori area in Neo village is also designated as special natural treasure by Japan.
