Shonan beach stretches from Shichirigahama of Kamakura city in Kanagawa through Enoshima of Fujisawa city to Chigasaki city in the Shonan district. It faces the Sagami bay and is famous as the best surfing spot nationwide. The symbol of Shonan: Enoshima is designated as an important historical site in Kanagawa, and is also one of a selection of 100 beautiful sceneries throughout Japan. The west of Shonan beach is designated as one of a selection of 100 scenic beaches.
