Omaezaki
Omaezaki is a cape facing to Suruga bay to the East, and Enshunada to the South. The beach around Omaezaki lighthouse is a great place to play during the Spring tide. Especially, when the tide is ebbing, you can walk to about 100m off-shore. From late May to August, the endangered Loggerhead turtles, also a national treasure, come to the beach for laying eggs. In order to protect the breeding environment, Local and city volunteers are patrolling, working on egg observation and releasing baby turtles which sometimes need to be hatched artificially.
