Hikone Castle
Hikone castle is one of the twelve ancient castles in Japan built between Azuchimomoyama and Edo period which still have their original castle towers. In addition to the main castle tower, which contain the Tsuke turret and Tamon turret and is a national treasure, there are 5 separate wards of turrets and gates. They are also set as Important Cultural properties. Especially, the castle's horse stable is a very rare historic spot nationwide and is recognized as an Important Cultural property. In the garden called "Genkyuen" on the north side of the castle, you can see splendid red and yellow leaves in autumn.
