The History of Kaga hot springs is very long, and has been called the oldest hot spring in Japan. Some of the spring baths, such as the Awazu, Yamanaka and Yamashiro have over 1300 years of history. Even the newest spring bath, Katayamazu has a 350 year history. Each hot spring has a old tale but all the stories stem from the worship of Mt. Haku. There are documents written about many famous people in history who visited those hot springs, famous for their medicinal properties.
