Anegawa Battlefield
Anegawa Battlefield is where military bases were set on the each side of the Ane River. One side was the Azai and Asakura forces which consisted of about 18,000 soldiers, and the other was The Oda and Tokugawa forces which consisted of about 28,000 soldiers. This is also where the battled started, with the first attack coming from the Tokugawa side. About 2500 soldiers were killed in the battle and three times that many were injured. Thus it is said that the Ane River became red with blood. The place is now called Chihara (Bloody Field) and Chikawabashi (Bloody Bridge) in remembrance of how horrible the battle was.
